Title: Size Queen Author: drachenmina Word Count: 100 Rating: PG Snape100 Challenge#229 The Four Elements: Earth Characters: Severus Snape/Sirius Black AN: Sequel to Remains Both of these can be viewed as taking place after Freedom, although I wouldn’t go so far as to call them sequels, precisely. For blpaintchart ;D
“Black?”
“Mm?”
“I asked why we were here.”
“Oh.” Sirius shrugged, vaguely. “I thought you liked this kind of thing.”
Severus frowned. Black’s thought processes appeared to be becoming increasingly erratic.
“I told you, Black, we only visited White Horse Vale to obtain Fuller’s Earth. Not because I have any particular fondness for chalk figures.”
Sirius grinned, and flung himself down on the grass to lie stretched out along a prominent portion of the Giant’s anatomy. “Not the bloody earthworks, Snapey. Cocks. Big, enormous, gigantic cocks. That’s what you like, you raving queen. So how about it, fancy a shag?”

TITLE: The Universal Constant, Part 6 AUTHORS: infinitenesmith & hauntermooneyes RATING: Mostly PG-13 with occasional spurts of R-rated language PAIRINGS: Desmond/Penny (pre-established), Dan/Charlotte (hints of) DESCRIPTION: A post-Island Lost/Discworld crossover fic. It's been a little less than a year since all the problems have been sorted out with the survivors of Oceanic 815, the mysterious island on which they were marooned, and its other inhabitants. But Desmond Hume is finding it difficult to re-adjust to life. He's plagued by nightmares and disturbing visions. He always feels as if he's being watched. Is it paranoia, or something far more sinister? Only Ms. Hawking and the History Monks know for sure...
NOTES: You know the drill...possible season 4 spoilers!
( "Hard as you may find it to believe that the course of history, the fate of Time itself, can revolve around one man, you’d better start believing it." )

| To Lose One Parent... |
[16 May 2008|06:07pm] |
Title: To Lose One Parent... House: Slytherin Word Count: 100 Characters/Pairings: Hermione Granger Author's Notes: The quotation alluded to is from The Importance of Being Earnest.
It began with Oscar Wilde, and pity for Harry to have lost all four of his grandparents before he was even a year old, leaving him at that awful house every summer.
What were the odds?
She curiously began to take notes, factoring out the war and You-Know-Who. All four of Ron's grandparents; three of Neville's, Lavender's, and Draco Malfoy's. Both of Sirius's parents, both of Professor Lupin's, Eileen Snape.
It wasn't the loss of half an entire generation who should have lived past a century that frightened her - it was that no one else seemed to notice.

| Generational Relay - Hufflepuff House |
[16 May 2008|01:27pm] |
Title: Generational Relay House: Hufflepuff Word Count: 100 Characters: Hermione and her daughter Challenge: Generation
Life was like a relay race, Hermione mused. A frantic urge to pass on one's genetic heritage to the next generation.
If you looked into the other lanes, you could see many other people vying for the same goal – to pass on the best of themselves, of their families. You could see people successfully passing on their baton, or stumble and drop it in the dust.
Better not to watch too closely. Keep focused on your own struggle to reach your partner and achieve your goal.
Hermione cuddled her daughter closer, so as not to lose her in the dust.

They soared above the deserted hillside. “So why’ve we come? Hope it’s not just to see a bloody horse carved out by some stone age sod who couldn’t even draw.”
“Correct. This valley yields the purest Fuller’s Earth to be found in Britain.”
Black wasn’t listening. “Why d’you think they did it?”
“The common urge to leave one’s stamp upon the Earth?”
“Leave something behind for future generations to marvel at? Hey, maybe I should do that!”
“I doubt the future generations would thank you, Black.”
And there’s hardly enough left of you to meet present needs, he didn’t add.

Title: Initial Signs Author: iamshadow Ship: Gen Word Count: 1,214 Rating: PG Warnings: AU. Spiders (mentioned). Fluff. Summary: Some things change, some stay the same. A/N: Takes place on 1st September, 1991
More of an epilogue to Inconceivable than a sequel, really. (Yes, I said the E word. Sorry.) You should read that story first, if you haven't already.
This story contains some stuff that belongs to JKR and all those other people. In particular, some dialogue that I've taken verbatim or paraphrased from Chapter Six (The Journey from Platform Nine and Three Quarters) of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (p. 71-74 of the Bloomsbury paperback edition).

Title: Advice from an Expert Challenge: earth Word Count: 100
"Now that you've rented a cottage, you'll need a decorator," said Narcissa. Severus had been so kind to Draco that she would overlook his relationship with Lupin. However, combining the households of two bachelors, one of whom had decorated his flat with Oxfam rejects, was aesthetically doomed.
"Thank you, but no." Severus poured her a glass of what smelled like a fine sangiovese. "Lupin and I have furniture."
"Yes, yes, but between your mother's old sofa and those dreadful earth tones - "
Man and wolf blinked at her. Narcissa sipped her wine and prepared for a long, hard slog.

Title: Simplicity Words: 100 House: Hufflepuff Challenge: Generations Author’s Notes: Wow, been a while, eh? ^_^ Glad to be back!
Wizarding geneology is a curious thing. Pureblood families trace their lineage back literally hundreds of generations but are prone to selective editing – for example, the shameful, muggle-marrying cousin is promptly deleted from the records. Plus, with all the distant relations intermarrying, the entire community swiftly becomes an inextricably tangled web.
Then there are moments where it all becomes much simpler.
Bang.
No more Diggories.
Bang.
No more Blacks.
Bang.
No more Snapes.
Bang.
Bang.
Bang.
An entire generation decimated – the great and might branches of an ancient tree instantly severed, hewn limbless by an ancient and bloody axe named War.

[15 May 2008|03:28pm] |
Title: Generation of Power House: Hufflepuff Word Count: 100 Characters: Hermione Granger-Weasley, Ron Weasley, Harry Potter Challenge: Generation Author's Note: "Generation" means more than a set of people born about the same time. It can also mean the production of heat and/or electricity, which I interpret as being the creation of any power, such as magic.
It had been years since they'd been in this much danger.
"You're enjoying yourself, aren't you?" Hermione accused.
"Me?" Ron protested. "I'm the easy-going, peaceful type!"
Harry grinned wickedly. "You can leave if you want."
Hermione shook her head. "It will take all three of us to generate a shield strong enough to contain that Flying McBoon," She grinned. "Besides, I was bored, too."
Standing shoulder to shoulder, they touched their wand tips together while reciting the spell.
The generation of the shield almost completely tapped their resources, but they captured the Flying McBoon and held him for the Unspeakables.

Title: The first Challenge: Earth Word Count: 100 Rating: G ______________________________________________________________
The first element, he teaches, is earth. Coarse clay beneath his fingernails, harvest of twisted roots, white hands working alongside his own. A bronze sickle slips, blood on the ice-bound earth. Chared dirt in the rotting gaps beneath skirting boards in the dingy kitchen where he crouches, watching his mother brew a wakeless sleep. Eyelids heavy with the smoke; asphodel and clinging earth. Earth is his mother, and the first potion. Sliding footprints in the chalk, hands that clutch at dust. Head bowed and retching upon damp grass. Bile and inexorable earth. Earth is his father, and the first murder.

I know the spacing sounds impossible, but it's not - I've spent all this afternoon and evening trawling the internet for facts, figures and calenders. I'm up to my ears in due dates and viability and everything else, now.

There is a sequel story to this one which will go up tomorrow.
