So, Lost has totally recaptured my attention these days. A large part of that is definitely because of Juliet. She JUST KEEPS GETTING MORE AND MORE AWESOME. For example, today? TOTAL PWNAGE. She fucking obliterated Sun there. It was jaw-dropping and rated about a 15 on the Hardcore and Awesome-O-Meter. She totally deserved to get bitchslapped across the face, but STILL. It was awesome.

Quick shout out to Michael: O HAI DOUCHFUCK. (I think I need to make that a macro...)

I loved the flashforward/flashback sequences. I'd been thinking in previous episodes that Jin was gonna die, but I was totally thinking it'd be on the island. But having the flashforwards of Sun and the flashbacks of Jin mixed together almost fooled me! When Sun and Hurley went to the cemetery (and, let me just say, Hurley showing up was FUCKING ADORABLE. Especially since he dressed up! FTW.), I was actually kind of "Buh?!" So that was cool.

So in closing, I really liked this episode. Just as I've really liked every episode of this mini-season (with the exception of the last few minutes of the last episode, because Jack/Juliet is TEH EWWW). I'm not realy for it to end.

Also, Eli Stone is just a cute, fun show. But I tell you what, I'll be puh-issed if something happens to Patti next week!

Ok, so I'm finally watching season 3 of SGA. Yes, yes, I know. I bought the DVD set a couple of weeks ago, but first I had to rewatch season 2. But before I rewatched season 2 I had to rewatch season 1, so I ended up marathoning the first two seasons in what little spare time I have.

Anyway. This preview for the apparent SG1 movie there's gonna be? Um, let me get this straight: they kick MY ELIZABETH off HER SHOW so that fucking AMANDA TAPPING--who has had TEN YEARS ON SG1--can have more screen time, and they're giving SG1 a fucking MOVIE?! That sucks!

No, I'm not bitter at all. Not in the least. SGA, after this season, we are through. I am totally breaking up with you.

[ETA] Elizabeth rocks like woah in No Man's Land. Have I mentioned that I really love Torri Higginson? Because I do. Like, a lot. Also, why are all the Wraith-turned-humans so friggin' hot? Because they are so, so yummy.

Come to think of it... most of the Wraith as Wraith are pretty hot.

I'm watching the season premiere of Stargate Atlantis now. I shouldn't be, because I am a whole season behind, but I am. I just have one word to say, and when you read it you should infuse as much astonishment and anger into it as you can: Elizabeth!! Why is it always my favorite character?

So I'd just like to give a shout-out to the writers of that show: hey, guys, FUCK YOU! I hate you all.

But by watching this, I did probably just save about fifty buck, since I won't be buying this season when it comes out on DVD.

And hey, since when does Amanda Tapping have enough hair to pull it back?

So, I'm just going to hang out in here till it's over. I officially don't care about this show anymore. I'm tired of my favorite characters biting it.

So I've been overdosing on Kingdom Hearts lately. I'm almost finished with KH2--I'm leveling up like crazy, trying to put off what I am sure is going to be a truly terrifying fight with Sephiroth--and I'd really like Chain of Memories when this one is over. It has also kind of inspired me to try to play Final Fantasy too, which I never really felt the burning desire to do before.

Anyway. My point is this: if I was ever not sure of my status as a huge geek, I am now. Because of KH2, I am now totally all over Cloud/Sephiroth. So not only am I willing to like, jump into videogame fandom, I'm apparently going to do it as a slashwhore.

Wow, so Harry Potter comes out tonight. I probably won't read it till sometime next week, though. I've been very good about not trying to find spoilers (actually, that's because I'm pretty sure I know what happens, and I just might still be desperately holding out hope that I'm wrong), and I even haven't tried to find any of the "leaked" copy in the oh, ten or so minutes that I've known about it. Yes, I know, I live under a rock, I don't care. This year I have too much of a life to go around trying to find out every detail of the book without ruining it.

Anyway.
As far as these rumors go, Harry doesn't die. He kills Voldemort, lives to tell the tale, and marries Ginny Weasley. The two of them promptly have about seven gajillion kids, and they probably name them all after the three good Marauders, Lily, and Dumbledore. And is it even worth writing that Ron and Hermione get hitched?

List Of People Who Are Definitely Going to Die:
1. Snape. Yeah, I'm under no illusions here. He's the character I'm holding out a dim hope for, but I really don't see how he's gonna survive the next book. For one thing, I like him too damn much, and we all know that my favorite characters die. There have been no exceptions to this rule--not a single one. Anyway, she has it set up so nicely for his death. But of course the circumstances are going to be such that he's completely redeemed in the eyes of the wizarding world, and then everyone is going to feel perfectly awful for thinking he was evil, when really, he was the best among them. I think Snape would like that, don't you? He's got just the right sort of vindictive personality to really enjoy that everyone feels bad about hating him, even though he was a perfectly rotten git.
2. Voldemort. Yeah, duh, right? We knew this.
3. Bellatrix Lestrange. As with Snape, I like her too damn much for her to live through the next book. Plus, Rowling seems to like it when characters get their just desserts, so how on earth could Bellatrix live to see the end of this book? I also wouldn't be surprised if Neville was the one who killed her... but I also wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't. Either way, she's not going to live.
4. Remus and Wormtail. This one's a twofer. I think it would lend the series a nice symmetry if all the "original" gang ended up dead in the end--all four Marauders, Lily, and Snape.

People Who May or May Not Bite the Dust in Book 7:
1. Hagrid. Yeah, I just have a bad feeling about him.
2. Lucius Malfoy. I dunno. I can see him dying at Voldemort's side, but I can also see him getting captured and sentenced to the Dementor's Kiss.
3. Tonks. Since Lupin is a Definite Goner, and she's stupid in love with him for some reason, I can see her getting distraught enough that she does something stupid that gets her killed.
4. A Weasley. Not sure which one. It's not going to be Ginny or Ron, since they are Main Characters as well as Romantic Interests, but there are so damn many Weasleys that I think it's extremely likely that at least one of them will die. And I'm betting it won't be Percy. As long as it's not one of the twins or Molly, I don't really care.

Notice that Draco is not on any of these lists. I'm not entirely sure what is going to happen to him, mostly because I don't really care enough to think about it, but I don't think Rowling is going to kill him off. He might be humiliated beyond belief, and maybe he'll even lose his fortune, but I doubt he's going to die. That would make Harry's life just a little too perfect, right, if all three of his worst enemies died? He needs at least one person to fight with as he grows up! ;P

And that's all I've got. I'm sure a million other people came to the same conclusions as I did. I wonder how it feels to Rowling to have written a series that is so damn predictable? Eh, they're wildly popular, so probably not too bad.

Meme

So I did this meme, and I was surprised that all but one of the pairings I love are het. When did I stop loving slash and femmeslash so much? Also, yes I am aware that I took this pretty seriously, but it was fun psychoanalyzing my ships.

SIX SHIPS I LOVE
1. Mulder/Scully (X-Files, the CLASSIC ship, as well as my first)
2. Teyla/Elizabeth (Stargate Atlantis)
3. Matt/Audrey (Heroes)
4. Goren/Eames (Law & Order: Criminal Intent)
5. Ororo/Logan (X-Men)
6. Snape/McGonagall (Harry Potter)

THREE SHIPS I LIKED BUT DON'T ANYMORE
7. Sam/Janet (Stargate SG1)
8. Tara/Spike (Buffy)
9. Sun/Jin (Lost)

THREE SHIPS I DON'T LIKE
10. Sara/Grissom (CSI)
11. Jean/Logan (X-Men)
12. Sheppard/McKay (Stargate Atlantis)

TWO SHIPS THAT I AM CURIOUS ABOUT, BUT DON'T ACTUALLY SHIP
13. Claire/Peter (Heroes)
14. Tia Dalma/Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)

1). Why do you dislike #11 so much?
Jean/Logan

Because Jean is way too high maintenance for someone like Logan. They don’t click together for me. She would try to “tame” him because his wilder side (his animal nature) would scare her, he'd let her drag him around by the balls and then he'd resent her for it. It just would not be a healthy relationship.

2). WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO SHIPS #13?
Peter/Claire

It seems like everyone in the Heroes fandom ships these two.

3). What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3 (even if the show isn't on the air anymore)?
Matt/Audrey

Well, Matt first has to get divorced, because his wife is an extremely annoying heifer. Then he and Audrey have to meet again, I’m thinking somewhere in New York, since as of the end of season 1, that’s where they both are. And then she has to apologize for being a heinous bitch to him earlier in the first season, and he has to apologize for getting her in trouble. And then they just have to go from there. But there needs to be a good friendship there before they jump into the sack.

4). Which is your favorite episode for #1? Try to pick just one.
Mulder/Scully

Oh man, this is a hard one. I mean, there are so many good ones! The one that comes immediately to mind is The Unnatural, for the baseball scene at the end, followed closely by Millennium, for the New Year’s kiss. But then the two Pusher episodes come to mind, too, and Small Potatoes, and Bad Blood. I like the end of Field Trip too, for the hand holding. I could go on and on and on, because this relationship was seriously the most developed reltionship on any TV show I've ever watched and there were so many episodes that added a little more depth to their potential romantic relationship. But, if I have to choose just one, I’m going to have to go with Syzygy, because although that wasn't the episode where I started to ship for them, that was the first one where I thought that the relationship might actually be possible.

5). HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN FOLLOWING COUPLE #6?
Snape/McGonagall

Since book 4, in which my brain went “Hmm, Dumbledore’s left and right hands. OMG HAY BRAINZ LETZ SHIP THEM!” Seriously though, I think that Snape and McGonagall have probably had a lot of history together as they are Dumbledore’s left and right hands. Snape is the one that he moves in the shadows, against the Dark Lord, and McGonagall is the one he moves in the light, for everyone to see. I think the dynamics between them both would be fascinating, and I also think that they are more similar than anyone would realize.

6.) WHAT'S THE STORY WITH #8? WHAT MADE YOU STOP LIKING THEM/CARING?
Tara/Spike

Ok, in case you haven’t noticed, my brain makes huge leaps in pairings a lot. I love rarepairs, slash pairs, and the like. Spike/Tara came about one day when I was thinking that instead of wasting his time with Buffy, Spike could do much better with a woman who wasn’t going to spend most of the time they spent together either beating the shit out of him or trying to convince them both that he was a monster. He needed someone that wouldn’t be ashamed to be with him, and who wouldn't deny his past as an evil blood sucking vampire, but who also wouldn't hold that past against him. This was also the point where Willow was becoming especially unbearable, and I was thinking that Tara deserved someone who could love her without any undercurrents of competition or any expectations of her, someone who would treat her like a human being. Then I realized that even though Spike and Tara were extreme opposites, that’s actually what would balance them out. I also realized that since they’d both had shit relationships in the past, and since they’d both let themselves be used and abused, they’d know how to treat one another. But it’s hard to ship a pairing, no matter how fucking awesome they are, when there aren’t very many others in the fandom who ship it too. The fic I read featuring them were absolutely wonderful, there just weren’t that many to be found. So, I stopped caring. Though I have to say, my interest in the pairing lasted longer than my interest in the show.

I also liked Tara/Faith for pretty much the same reasons.

7). WHICH SHIP DO YOU PREFER - #2 OR #4?
Teyla/Elizabeth (SGA) or Goren/Eames (CI)

Hmm… this is hard. I’m going to have to say Teyla/Elizabeth. But only by a little bit.

8). YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE ONE SHIP NON EXISTENT. CHOOSE FROM #10 OR #12.
Sara/Grissom (CSI) or Sheppard/McKay (SGA)

I don’t even have to think about this one: Sara/Grissom. Even if Sheppard/McKay were cannon, it’d still be Sara/Grissom. That pairing just squicks me the fuck out.

9). WHAT INTERESTS YOU ABOUT #14?
Tia Dalma/Jack Sparrow

The fact that both of them have really strong, really eccentric personalities. Jack is flamboyant and brash and witty, and Tia Dalma is mysterious and half mad and intense. They both have keen senses of humor and wit, senses that are often misunderstood because of their oddities, and the two of them together is just a fun idea for me. Plus, oh my god the pure friggin’ eye candy they’d make together! I’m not quite a shipper yet—still too much in love with Tia Dalma all by her lonesome—but I have a feeling that it’ll only take one really good fic to do the trick.

10). WHEN DID YOU STOP LIKING #7?
Sam/Janet

When they killed the better half of the pairing. Yes, Janet died and then I lost interest in the show. But it’s kind of hard to really continue shipping a pairing when your favorite of the two is dead, and you have a really hard time with resurrection plot lines anyway.

11). DID YOUR WANING INTEREST IN #9 KILL YOUR INTEREST IN THE SHOW?
Sun/Jin

Nope, I still love Lost. I even still enjoy Sun/Jin, but after they reconciled their relationship I found myself loosing interest. They were so damn cannon, and so damn cute, that it wasn’t really all that fun to ship for them anymore.

12). What's a song that reminds you of #5?
Ororo/Logan

As dorky as it sounds, Hey You by Shakira. It’s totally an Ororo point of view song. If you listen to the lyrics of the song, this is the only type of relationship I can see Logan letting himself commit to long term: one in which he has total possession over his partner, but also one in which his partner has total possession over him. And I can see Ororo being the one he trusts to have control over his heart.

13). WHICH OF THESE SHIPS DO YOU LOVE THE MOST?

It’s a tie between Matt/Audrey and Ororo/Logan. I just can’t choose one right now.

14). WHICH DO YOU DISLIKE THE MOST?

Sara/Grissom, hands down. It’s just EW.

15). IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY OF THESE TWO PAIRINGS DOUBLE DATE, WHO WOULD IT BE? (EVEN BETTER IF THEY'RE FROM DIFFERENT SHOWS)

I like Matt/Audrey and Mulder/Scully, for the obvious law enforcement connections (since everyone at the table but Matt would be an FBI agent, and even he worked with the FBI for a while). Goren/Eames can be interchanged for either couple, for the same reasons. I also like Ororo/Logan and Teyla/Elizabeth, oddly enough. I think Logan and Teyla could relate well, and so could Elizabeth and Ororo. It’d be an interesting date, at least.

16). Have #2 kissed yet? Elaborate if you'd like.
Teyla/Elizabeth

No, and they’re not likely to either. That’s what I get for shipping femmeslash.

17). DID #4 HAVE A HAPPY ENDING? IF THE SHOW HASN'T ENDED YET, DO YOU THINK A HAPPY ENDING IS LIKELY?
Goren/Eames

If by happy ended, you mean are they together, then the answer is no. I don’t think it’s likely that they’re going to end up together in cannon, either, just considering what the show is and how the L&O series is handled. But since I actually really like the way their relationship is portrayed anyway, that’s not really a huge issue for me. At least, not so huge that fanfic can’t satisfy it.

18). What would make you start shipping #13?
Claire/Peter

You know, I’m not sure. It’s not like I’ve missed the way they undress one another with their eyes every time they have a scene together. And oddly enough, the fact that they’re related has only increased my interest in the pairing (yes, I know, that’s creepy). So I guess a really, really good fanfic would do it. But it would have to be pretty bloody spectacular, because this pairing really doesn’t interest me enough that I care too much about it.

19). IF ONLY ONE COULD HAPPEN, WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER - #2 OR #6?
Teyla/Elizabeth (SGA) or Snape/McGonagall (Harry Potter)

Teyla/Elizabeth. Snape/McGonagall is an interesting pairing, but fanfic satisfies my need for them pretty well. Plus, Teyla/Elizabeth is a whole lotta eye candy that I’d just love to see.

20). YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DECIDE THE FATE OF #10. WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM?
Sara/Grissom

Sara realizes that she can do so much better than a socially inept, awkward man that just so happens to be her SUPERVISOR and they break up. And since I’m dreaming anyway, Sara hooks up with Sofia, who is a much smarter match than Grissom, and Grissom pines away silently (maybe spouting the occasional line of melancholy poetry) for the rest of their careers together.

LOST 3.22, Through The Looking Glass

Ok, I wrote the outline to this while the episode was airing. Now let’s hope I can get my thoughts together enough to pull the outline into an actual review.

There was so much going on in this episode. But I know exactly where I want to start: with Jack. For the first time in three seasons, I like Jack. I have spent the entire series being alternately irritated and bored by him. He and Kate have been easily tied at my least favorite characters. But I liked him in this one. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I loved him. He was bloody amazing in this episode. I love that he finally stepped up and really took charge. I mean, he’s made decisions in the past, but never has he seemed as in control as he was in the finale. Awesome. However, I seriously, seriously hope that now that he’s admitted that he loves Kate, he won’t take up with Juliet. Because that very brief, close mouthed kiss they shared made me want to Clorox my brain.

The “flashbacks” (flashforwards, really, I guess) were a little odd for me. First of all, Jack’s child molester facial hair. Just… why? Why would you do that with your face? It was weird seeing him so out of it, too. As much as I dislike him, there’s never been a moment in the series where I could actually see him becoming a junkie or a drunk. I don’t think it fits, either. I can see him getting super pissed off and ruining every chance he has at every opportunity he gets. But the whole substance abuse thing was kind of a stretch for me. Also, he could stop crying and that would be just fine with me. I really did not like the scene with his ex-wife. I thought it was pretty bitchy of her to show up after he saved the lives of a woman and her child and then to tell him that it would be inappropriate to give him a ride home, like he’s gonna rape her on the way there or something. It also annoyed me that she had to give him shit for drinking, considering that they were divorced and he no longer had to listen to her anymore. And then, of course, there was the dead guy. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Sawyer. You can see enough of the clipping to see the beginning of the person’s name—Jo. So it might be John, but I can’t see him willingly leaving the island, and it isn’t like he’s incapable of hiding out from whoever would want to make him leave the island. Same goes for Ben—he won’t willingly leave the island, and if the people coming are from Dharma, he’s not going to have to, because he’s going to end up in that mass grave of his. But the only people I can see Jack denying being friends or family to right now are Locke, Sawyer, and Ben. So I tend to believe that the dead person is someone we just haven’t met yet.

It was pretty awesome seeing Ben get all flustered. He’s been so cocky and self-righteous that I really enjoyed watching him fuck up all over the place. You know who he reminds me of? Acostas Kolya from SGA. Just completely self-assured and utterly confident that he is right. He also has the complete inability to accept that when the survivors do something to fuck his shit up, it’s because he’s backed them into a corner, and not because they’re just blithely killing Others. He just can’t stand it when the survivors kill his people, but he also can’t understand that they only do it to keep the Others from killing them. That’s pretty much why he’s been a really irritating bad guy. I also love that it never crossed his mind that Juliet might betray him. I mean honestly, I thought he was supposed to be smart? Why would he think he could send her off to the enemy’s camp and expect her to stay loyal when she’s surrounded by people who want to get off the island almost as badly as she does? Especially since she’s the person who hates him the most? That was just not a particularly bright move on his part. It is entirely his own fault that “Ben’s little mess” is rapidly turning into “Ben’s big mess.”

Ok, Charlie. Charlie redeemed himself in this one. He’s been pretty irritating for quite some time now, but he too was excellent in this episode. It was really cool how his acceptance of his own death made him so cavalier about the way the Blonde Bitch was treating him. His death scene was very dramatic and very very sad, and I watched the whole scene with very wide eyes, but it was also just a little annoying. I’m assuming that the door to the room he was in only locked from the inside, but I’m confused as to why it was necessary to close it in the first place? I mean, he could have dived out of the room and he and Desmond could have made a swim for it as the grenade went off. It seemed to affect only the room Charlie had been in, so it’s not like the whole station was collapsing around them. But if the room only locked from the inside, then what was the wheel mounted on the other side of the door for? Hell, he could even have tried to swim out the window. So yeah, I’m just not convinced that he had to die. I’m also not entirely convinced he’s going to stay that way, but since I refuse to read spoilers or hey, even who stayed on for another season, I’m not going to speculate too much on that.

Kate was, as ever, pretty annoying. Her whole line about Sawyer, asking Jack why Sawyer said it if he didn’t mean it was just stupid. As if the convicted con has never said something she didn’t mean before. /sarcasm Also, if Sawyer doesn’t call Kate by her name when they’re fucking, then what does he call her? Actually… I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know that.

Um, I love Sawyer even more than usual now. I know he’s going all dark and scary, killing people left and right and all that jazz, but I seriously love his character. It’ll be fun to watch his evolution through the next season.

As usual, I adore Juliet. I love how she so calmly accepts that no one but Jack trusts her. I love how she went back with Sawyer because she felt like she had to. I love how she messed with him as they went. I just really like her character. She’s such a strong presence, without being a loud one, like Kate and Jack and Sawyer all are. She’s actually kind of like Sayid in that regard; calm, capable, tough, and quiet.

Sayid, as usual, was wonderful. So was Hurley, man. I’m so glad he didn’t get pissed at Sawyer and leave, because that scene with him in the van was awesome. I love it when Hurley gets to save the day!

I forgot that Rose was both irritating and funny. That little line that she made Bernard say in the beginning was the best line in the whole episode: “I am a dentist, not Rambo.” Great line. Also very true. I was not impressed with Bernard in this one at all. I guess I understand his inability to blow people up, but when he started squealing, I was so mad. I was growling at the TV “Bernard, STOP. TALKING. You weak son of a bitch.” I dunno, I guess I expected a little more from someone who was in the camp that had more experience with the Others. He should have known that no matter what he said, what he told them, the Others wouldn’t let them go.

Ok, at the end when Ben is all tied up, I think it would be really hard to resist the temptation to taunt the hell out of Ben. I’d have to do a Snoopy dance in front of him and chant “You lose, you lose, you lose” at him or something.

But the best scene in the whole episode was when Ben was tied to a tree while Naomi was dialing the phone, and he was yelling at Jack, and Danielle elbowed him in the face. That was awesome.

Ok, here is where the review is going to lose ALL semblance of coherency, because now I’m going to react to the final flashforward, on which I have absolutely no theories right now because why would they want to go back and this is what’s bothering me most of all, how the hell is Jack’s father alive? Here goes: What. The. FUCK?! No seriously, what the fuck, what the FLYING RED FUCK?! What the hell, what the hell, what the HELL?!?!!

So yeah, this episode was great. That thing that they had in the first season? The thing that made you lean forward in your seat and get mad because of commercial breaks and wait anxiously for the next new episode and that’s been missing for a while now, even though the show is still good? This episode had that. It’s totally caught my interest for next season, which I will be very impatiently waiting for now.

And this has nothing to do with LOST, but the commercial with the little boys with backpacks dancing like dorks in the hallway? AWESOME.

Heroes 1.23, How To Stop An Exploding Man

The finale was just the tiniest bit disappointing to me. There were a lot of things they did that it was obvious they were doing only for dramatic emphasis, like DL sitting around with a bullet in him the whole episode, and Sylar managing to stop the bullets Matt shot at him but not being able to stop Hiro from stabbing him after he'd announced his presence, and Nathan showing up in the nick of time and having enough time to have a little chat with Peter and Claire before Peter exploded. And honestly, why didn't they just let Claire shoot him? Because then he could have recovered from that, not exploded, and had time to learn how to control Ted's power. Then we wouldn't have to spend the summer wondering if Nathan let him go before he exploded and now he's going to get cancer in twenty years, or if he's dead.

Matt better not be dead. The end.

This whole "badder bad ass than the Bogeyman" thing Molly dropped was kind of stupid too. Couldn't they at least have waited till next season to start introducing a new Bad Guy? Because we all know that the show is coming back, so why not take the time to give the new Bad Guy a good lead in? This is what you get for killing ALL the Bad Guys in season one, people: bad lead ins for new Bad Guys!

Except Sylar isn't dead yet.

You know what I would really like to see next season? More people without powers. One of the reasons I love Audrey's character so much, aside from the fact that I just adore Clea DuVall, is that she was the balance to Matt's power. She was the one who stopped him from going off all half-cocked and kept reminding him that he needed something more to go on than hearing a thought. I loved Zach because he was the person Claire leaned on for normalcy and support when she was coming into her powers. Ando I love because he's the encouragement Hiro needs to keep going. I don't even need to start on why Mohinder is awesome. If you haven't figured out why he rocks, there's something wrong.

I was going to say something nice about Janice Parkman here, too, but after rewatching Unexpected, I realized that I really just don't like her character. It's more than just that I love Matt to tiny pieces, and have an interest in Matt/Audrey, it's that she's an obnoxious character. I was kind of disappointed, too, because I'd half way convinced myself that she could be a good character and I just hadn't given her enough of a chance. But it turns out that I don't like her at all. Oh well.

I guess I might as well add here that I don't really know why everyone hated Simone so much, aside from the fact that lots of people wanted Peter/Claire and Simone was in the middle of that. I liked Simone. She could have been a good character if they hadn't killed her.

LOST tonight. YAY!

LOST, 3.19 The Brig

First: yes, I am totally listening to songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Second, First of all, HOW could I have forgotten about Sayid?! Honestly, when the Fantastic Four were discussing who they could trust to tell about Naomi, I completely forgot about Sayid, even though he was the obvious, logical choice. That tells me that they aren't doing enough with his character lately.

Naomi is a smart ass. I like her.

I don't have any idea what to make of the fact that they supposedly found the plane and all the bodies of the people who were in it. So I'm not gonna think about that much.

Locke's dad called Ben Bug Eye. THAT is my new nickname for the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, because it rocks. On the subject of the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, aka Zep, aka Henry Gale, aka Bug Eye, aka Ben, that guy really, really bugs me. I've put him and Candace from Heroes at the number one spot of my "Villains Who Annoy the Shit Out of Me" list.

I am very disappointed with Locke these days. He used to creep me out big time, but now I'm finding him kind of... I dunno, wishy washy, I guess. First he believes fanatically in pushing the button. Then he believes fanatically in not pushing the button. Then he changes his mind. Then he wants to be an Other, but when the Others decide he's too much of a pussy, he decides he's going to con someone into doing his dirty work. He just needs grow a pair and learn to make up his mind. He could be a very awesome bad guy, or a very valuable good guy, but right now, when he's wavering between the two, he's just annoying. Leading Sawyer off into the woods to settle the score he has with Daddy Dearest was just ridiculous. That being said, at first I was really confused as to why they chose Sawyer for the job. I thought Kate or Jin or Sayid would have been a way better choice. But then Daddy Dearest, hereafter referred to as Big Sawyer, dropped the bomb, and I was like "Oh. Bye then, Mr. Big Sawyer." That was definitely not something I expected. It's also something I'm not terribly thrilled about. It seems like a sort of afterthought, where someone just went "Hey, let's see if we can sell this idea!" But was anyone else absolutely heartbroken when Sawyer pulled that letter out of his back pocket? Because I totally was. And after that, I was actually rooting for Sawyer to kill him.

Locke's dad was, in my opinion, the most annoying kind of bad guy. Pompous, self-centered, uncaring, and chicken shit, all rolled into one.

Kate needs to chill the fuck out and stop trying to provoke Jack into fights.

Juliet is so awesome, and hot, and way, way cooler than Kate. Regarding next weeks episode, they need to hurry up and realize that Juliet is pretty much Sun's only chance of survival and let her do her thing. Because no matter what they think, she's got something up her sleeve. Ben had her conned into coming to the island, he's basically held her prisoner there for three years, he's essentially put her sister in the middle of a baited trap and didn't even try to hide the fact that that's what he was doing, and she hates him more than anyone else on the island hates him. Instead of automatically jumping on her case, what they need to do is team up with her. With Naomi on the island, as a possible rescue option, she doesn't have as much to tie herself to the Others. The survivors would do well to take advantage of that. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" and all that jazz.

So. Yeah. Go LOST.

Heroes 1.20, Five Years Gone

I spent the whole episode in a state of "whaaaa?" I mean, I don't even know what to say. This is going to be a little incoherent:

There was a major evolution of Matt here, one that I'd be totally interested in watching in full. Because at this point in time, I really can't picture the moment that he is so badly cornered, that he throws it all down and starts beating on his own kind. He's just such a lovable, bumbling, sweet guy, that even as I was watching, I was having a hard time believing it. Not only is he a sweet guy, he's a good guy to boot, and I think you'd have to push him pretty damn hard to get him to the point where he's willing to torture and murder people. I mean, I guess that having to put your wife and kid into hiding would be a pretty major stressor in your life, but I also can't see that as being the only catalyst that led to the break in his morality that allowed him to start behaving in the way we saw in this episode. I also have to admit that I am very surprised that Janice's kid is Matt's, too. I was almost sure that it was going to be Officer What's His Name's.

I have no idea what to make of Mr. Bennett. I don't like him at all, and yet I have to concede that he seems to be a good guy.

Peter in this I liked. Actually, I really have no problem with Peter himself. I have a huge problem with his powers. I get that he's the more peaceful counterpart of Sylar, but seriously, his power is just too damn perfect that I really can't stand to watch him use the ones he absorbs, ever. But today, I liked him. Loved him, really.

Hiro... oh man. I really don't want him to end up like Future Hiro. Ando is NOT allowed to die, because Future Hiro is so not the quirky, cute, nerdy, adorable Hiro we all know and love. Even if Hiro does become some big kick ass super fighter master guy (yep, that's a really awe inspiring title), he needs to retain some of the Hiro-ness that made everyone love him in the first place.

Sylar. Will that man NEVER DIE?! Honest to Pete, if that man does not die, I might have to kill Tim Kring myself. But as far as that goes, I really like the new information we just got via the last issue of 9th Wonders. I like the idea of Hiro killing Sylar, if only because it isn't a showdown with Peter. I think a showdown with Peter would be kind of like the endless fight: two guys who are so evenly matched that there can be no real winner, and ultimately ending in the destruction of them both. And while I would not protest such an ending to the Sylar arch, I love the idea of someone who is vastly less powerful than Sylar being the one to end him. I love even more the idea that it might be someone as geeky and odd as Hiro. Or, if the previews for next week can be believed, an innocent little girl.

Niki. I like her, but she needs to grow a pair. The end.

Mohinder makes me happy, though I was a little confused as to how he could apparently work for "Nathan" for so long and NOT realize that he was really Sylar, when it didn't take him long to realize who he was when he was posing as Zane. Anywho, he was very valiant in this episode, trying to hold the storm back to give Hiro more time to teleport.

I really hope the Haitian doesn't reprise his role as Primatech lackey--or any other version of that kind of work. He's got a fascinating power, and I'd like to see more done with that than the silent partner/shadow man thing.

And that about sums it up. I loved that episode. It left me staring at the screen with my mouth hanging half open. Here's to hoping next week is as good--because I am seriously curious as to what that little girl can do that is so important.

[ETA] I'm really confused by all the people who are pointing out the fact that killing Sylar won't stop the bomb. First of all, how do we know that? Peter is just now getting control of all the powers he's leeched from other people, but for a while there, he was taking powers without even realizing it, and had no control over how they were used or when. But they weren't going berserk constantly, so who can say that that's what happens to detonate him? What if Sylar is the one who provokes him into exploding? So even though Sylar isn't the one who explodes, as everyone in Five Years Gone seemed to believe, he could still be the one to detonate the bomb, so to speak. I don't like referring to Peter as a bomb. It's weird. Anyway, my point is that we just don't know that Sylar isn't responsible for the explosion, even if he isn't the one that does the exploding.
Second, who cares if killing Sylar won't stop the bomb? Does that mean that he shouldn't be dealt with? Sylar is an extremely powerful, extremely dangerous mutant (I also don't like referring to everyone with an ability as a 'hero'), and he needs to be neutralized. Killing Sylar should be, I think, just as much of a priority as stopping Peter from exploding.
And that's my two cents.

Um, yeah. So last night in my attempt to find the first episode of season 3 of Stargate Atlantis, I accidentally spoiled myself on several issues. One of them has me going "Oh, ew, that's really gross, where can I throw up?" And another two have me... really, really upset. Like really a lot.

*headdesk*

Elizabeth is so hot in The Long Goodbye.

Her macking on Sheppard is kinda gross, but Weir is... mmmmmmm, yummy.

And Ronon? "Because I know how he thinks; I don't have any idea how she thinks." Hee. I love Ronon.

Mostly I love Hot Elizabeth. The look on her face when that guy grabs her by the shoulder? Yum. And Elizabeth with guns? Oh my god.

Yeah, so aside from the whole kissing thing at the beginning, The Long Goodbye is totally my favorite episode so far.

Michael and Allies were kind of horrible. I don't mean they were bad episodes. They were really good, actually. But I watched each one with a kind of sick fascination, and they kind of made me want to throw up a little bit. But goddamn, I NEED season three RIGHT NOW.

Right. I'm reading The Regulators by Richard Bachman (aka Stephen King), and I am endlessly amused by the fact that Audrey Wyler's best friend is Janice Goodlin.

There is fic possibility there, but I just can't figure it out yet.

Dude, I'm FINALLY FINALLY getting to see episodes from season 2 of Stargate: Atlantis, and WTFOMGYAY Mitch Pileggi! Oh, I heart that man. Heart heart heart.

Oh, and hey? Seriously? Guys, quite being mean to Elizabeth, because she rocks. She is so much cooler than you guys, it's pathetic. On a scale of one to ten, you assholes are like, a three, and Lizzie is a 15. Bazillion. Fifteen fucking BAZILLION. You can't even dream about being close to being as cool as Elizabeth Weir. So back off.

And Sheppard? Hermiod can hear you. He may be naked, but that doesn't mean his ears don't work.

We're not going to get to see Rachel Luttrell this episode, are we? That's sad.

Holy crap, David Hewlett is that guy in Cube! I just noticed that. Rawk.

Aww, poor Lizzie. Don't worry, Simon sucks anyway. This way, you can totally fuck Teyla or Zelenka or (maybe) McKay now. Or, all three. Or just Teyla (please?). Whatever you want, just not Sheppard.

Hermiod just said 'crap.' That's fuckin' awesome!

Cadwell, listen to Rodney. He's smarter than you.

Aw, man. I miss Aiden.

The fact that the captain's chair in the Daedalus swivels around is ridiculously cool. How big of a dork does thinking that make me?

I really like this whole 'virus making the ship fly into the nearest star' thing. It's so nasty evil mean and just plain fun. Except it was cooler when they were actually going into the star (you know, for that whole commercial break).

As cool as Hermiod is, I think I would feel really funny (as an actor) running around saying stuff like "Hermiod says..." and "Hermiod thinks..." and "Hermiod, can you..."

Oh my god. Elizabeth's tone saying 'you had us a little worried' was wonderful. God, I love that woman.

Gratuitous Teyla! In a new sexy top! YUM. Dude, was she in charge? Seriously? Was she in charge of Atlantis while Elizabeth was gone? That's awesome. And that top is extremely yummy.

Interesting episode. Not wonderful, but I'm not gonna complain. I'm just happy to be watching season 2.

Yes, it's been forever. Not like anyone reads this anyway. Here's a series of poems I wrote with the characters of Lost in mind. I did it back in the first season, so a lot of the backstory we have for the characters now wasn't there when these were written.

Boone
If you know
...where to look
If you know
...how to search
You can almost see
The place in his eyes
...where humor once lived

Hurley
There are little pieces of laughter
Littered in his wake
Like bits of candied spite.
If he knows that they laugh at him
As much as they do with him,
He doesn’t seem to mind.
Perhaps he knows that
Laughter is precious
And holds the tears at bay.

Jack
When he smiles
It’s like glass breaking,
And his eyes just
Won’t take the hint.
His lips form words his brain can’t understand.
He doesn’t know
Where these platitudes come from
Or why.
And he’s pushed the questions he can’t let himself ask
So far into his mind that you can see them
Printed on the back of his head:
Where did all this hurt come from?
And
Why can’t I fix it?

Jin
How horrible is a disaster,
When you can’t understand
The language it speaks?
And does he hold his words close,
Clutched like shards of glass, cutting,
Tight-lipped and rock-solid,
Because it is somehow better
Than letting them spill forth in a
…torrent…flood…hurricane…
Of syllables that no one knows
Or cares to learn?

Kate
What holds this woman
(wisp of smoke, gust of wind)
Tethered to this place?
What love?
